Day 01: Tour uros Insland Lake Titicaca
Day 02: Amantani – Return to Puno
These man-made reed islands are a fascinating half-day excursion from Puno. Each islet is home to between one and ten Uros families, who transform the buoyant totora reeds into huts, boats and even play equipment. Located just 5 km east of Puno, they are the most visited place on Lake Titicaca, but also a highlight of the region.
The islands are built with many layers of totora reeds, which are constantly replenished from above while rotting from below, so the soil is always soft and springy. (Be careful not to put your foot through any rotten sections!)
A journey through Lake Titicaca and the Andes of Puno, in this epic journey we head towards Amantani Island; the site where Pachatata and Pachamama are located, in Amantani we will spend the night in local houses so that the next day we continue our journey in our speedboat to the floating islands of the Uros. In these Titicaca islands of Peru and Bolivia began the Inca Empire with the first Inca rulers who were Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo; discover the beginning of the Andean temples that built Machu Picchu and other centers of power in South America.
In this excursion we will visit 2 Uros islands, TAQUILE and AMANTANI“, where we can incorporate a night with a host family from Taquile Island, which is located 36 km northeast of the port of Puno.
if you are looking to get out of the routine this will be a great option to get away from the city, and spend a quiet afternoon surrounded by the waters of Lake Titicaca .
